ABC Collaborations

ABC Collaborations and Focus Areas 

The sector recognises the benefits of collaboration in innovation and that this requires the participation from three very different cultures: Academia, Businesses and Clinicians.  These collaborations are referred to as ABC collaborations and allow a convergence of perspective and capability within the rigor of a viable business model. BioBusinessNI have developed and facilitated dynamic partnerships which have been formed among academic, business and clinical participants and these have led to new products being developed and new market opportunities being identified. 

The initial areas of focus for ABC collaborations are on the themes of:

          ·         Healthy Living 

BioBusinessNI are also fostering collaborations in topics where “convergent technologies” are having a major market impact.  The convergence of biologics with medical devices, advanced materials and nanotechnology with packaging and diagnostics with biopharma, illustrate the challenges facing the sector.
